China’s WatSan development

Being indebted to Global Water Intelligence’s fascinating graph of water and wastewater development in China I have superimposed upon it GDP per person to see what that looks like – this continuing from my analysis of the historical watsan development in a ‘Secondary Town’ in England relative to GDP per person. So, looking at the graph, recognising that my choice of the relative heights of the two vertical axes is totally arbitrary, this one seems to show that growth in watsan investment preceded economic development …. Which is contrary to my often repeated view. Interesting.
