First visit to Freetown, Sierra Leone, with Adam Smith International, to support Guma Valley Water Company as part of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Threshold Program. My work focusing upon the Strategic Performance Improvement Plan, assisting the Company to focus even more on engaging with customers whilst empowering staff. The big challenge is that Guma Valley Dam and treatment works was designed and constructed for a population of half a million, in 1965 whilst the present population is approaching 1.5 million.

Very impressed by the work of Water4.org, visiting their programme at Waterloo to begin to learn more about the challenges of serving ‘Western Area District – Rural’. GVWC has now been given the responsibility to oversee water for all in this area adjoining Freetown.
